1787 New Jersey Copper. Maris 64-u, W-5390. Rarity-5. Large Planchet, Plain Shield. VF Details--Environmental Damage (PCGS).
142.0 grains. Light brown devices contrast with deeper mahogany fields. Both sides are microscopically granular and are aligned to the lower left, with the die edge visible at the opposite side. Aside from a short scratch above the second U of UNUM, there are no post-striking flaws worthy of mention. The SHI census includes seven coins, six of which are in the VF range. Very, very few of the nice examples of this variety are anything close to perfect.
