INDIA. British East India Company. Mint Error -- Obverse Brockage -- Rupee, ND (1840)-(B&C). Bombay or Calcutta Mint. Victoria. NGC MS-62.
cf. KM-458 (for type). Divided legend type. Lightly toned and with some alluring brilliance emanating from below, this nearly-Choice example presents a dramatic mint error, with a full brockage on what would otherwise bear the reverse design. Overall, a VERY RARE error in this quality, with a search of archived auction records revealing no superior examples.
