Description

1804 Draped Bust Cent. S-266, the only known dies. Rarity-2. Fine-12 Details--Hair Re-Engraved, Tooled, Edge Filed, Burnished (ANACS).
One of the primary key dates in the Draped Bust large cent series. The present specimen is not the finest you'll ever encounter, but it certainly is far from the worst 1804 cent in the numismatic marketplace; the details are sharp on both sides despite the ANACS disclaimers. As indicated, Liberty's hair has been re-engraved, some repair work is seen in the right obverse field to remove some ancient tooling, and the coin was burnished. An affordable example of this rare and elusive date in the early large cent series.
PCGS# 1504. NGC ID: 224R.
From the Jerome S. Reznick Collection.

Estimate: $1500
