GUATEMALA. Guatemala - Mexico. 8 Reales, ND (ca. 1839-40). PCGS Genuine--Holed, EF Details; Countermark: EF Details.
KM-107. Issued by decree of 26 April 1839 through 20 November 1840. Countermark: Type II; radiant personification of the sun above mountains. Countermark applied to the reverse of a 1733-Mo MF Mexico Klippe 8 Reales of Philip V. With a host coin that is almost perfectly square in shape, this example would undoubtedly serve as an excellent representative of the countermarked emission, all while yielding immense appeal from the host as well. Lightly toned and highly attractive.
