Description
1817 Capped Bust Half Dollar. O-113a. Rarity-2. MS-61 (PCGS).
Classic rainbow album toning graces both sides of this appealing Mint State example. Rings of gold, green, blue, rose, and orange toning fade to even gray centers. Traces of minor rub on Liberty's cheek would explain the low Mint State grade from PCGS, yet the surfaces of each side retain a strong cartwheel effect. This Overton variety impressively shows major obverse die cracks which show nicely at this grade level.
