1916 James Jerome Hill Memorial Medal. By Whitehead-Hoag. Bronze. Mint State.

76 mm. Obv: Bust left with name JAMES JEROME HILL below, MEMORIAL above. Rev: Wreath surrounds central inscription SEPTEMBER 16TH / 1838 / MAY 29TH / 1916 / "ONE OF THE / WORLD'S GREATEST / BUILDERS". Edge: Marked WHITEHEAD-HOAG at 6 o'clock. James Jerome Hill (1838-1916) was an American railway promoter and financier who established the Great Northern Railway and played an important role in the organization and funding of the Canadian Pacific Railway. He was known as "The Empire Builder" for his many activities in the stock market, mining and banking.
