JULIUS CAESAR. AR Denarius (3.50 gms), Rome Mint; P. Sepullius Macer, moneyer, 44 B.C. NGC EF, Strike: 4/5 Surface: 2/5. Light Smoothing.
Cr-480/13; CRI-107D; Syd-1074. Lifetime issue. Obverse: Laureate and veiled head right; Reverse: Venus Victrix standing left, holding victoriola and scepter; shield to right. Emanating from the period just before Caesar's assassination-- possibly by only a few weeks or even days --this example still retains a solid portrait of the "dictator for life."
