SICILY. Syracuse. Second Democracy, 466-406 B.C. AR Tetradrachm (16.85 gms), ca. 466-460 B.C. NGC VF, Strike: 4/5 Surface: 4/5.
HGC-2, 1311; Boehringer Series-XIVA, 477 (V255/R342). Obverse: Charioteer driving quadriga right; above, crowning Nike flying right; in exergue, ketos right; Reverse: Diademed head of Arethousa right; four dolphins around. A few edge splits and some moderate wear are noted, but this elegant example still retains solid detail and a pleasing gunmetal gray tone.
