Incorporated on January 26th 1807, the privately owned Milford & Owego Turnpike ran from Milford, Pennsylvania to Owego, New York through a winding route of rural territory in Pennsylvania and New York. Although profitable, the Turnpike eventually lost its commercial prominence as a result of canals and new inventions such as the steam locomotive. Overall, the certificates contained within remain attractive with minimal signs of handling, staining evident on each, but the embossed seal of the company remains bold, in addition to the penned signatures and serial numbers.
