Hailing from a scarce district, this "Gold Clause" $500 is endowed with strong eye appeal and originality. Strong embossing is readily apparent, in addition to the striking contrast of the dark-green Treasury Seal and serial numbers against the backdrop of white and original paper, this note is highly pleasing in both an aesthetic and technical sense. Some minor rust is otherwise apparent on the reverse but fails to detract visually. PMG comments "Rust."
