CC-3. Continental Currency. May 10, 1775. $3. PMG Choice About Uncirculated 58 EPQ.
No. 21841. A striking example of an early Continental type produced by Hall & Sellers of Philadelphia. This note features a dramatic motif centered around an eagle fighting a heron on the face which is contrasted by a skeletal leaf imprint on the reverse. A Latin motto EXITUS IN DUBIO EST which is translated by Newman as "The outcome is in doubt" assumes a prominent position and speaks to the gravity of the times and circumstances which saw the printing of this note. PMG Pop 5/0. Noted for "Exceptional Paper Quality" by PMG.
