Description

1808 Capped Bust Half Dollar. O-103. Rarity-2. Die State 103.3. AU-55 (PCGS).

Blushes of pale olive-blue and champagne-pink iridescence hug the borders of this otherwise pearl-gray example. A bit lightly struck overall, especially at the peripheries, where evidence of die erosion confirms a late striking from the O-103 dies. From a distinct, early subtype in the Capped Bust half dollar series, used only in 1807 and 1808.
