Although a fact that 1886 $20 "Diamond Back" Silver Certificates are rare as a whole with under 200 examples recorded across the series with the bulk of those accounting for Fr. 314 which features a large brown spiked Treasury Seal and the signatures of Rosecrans and Hyatt. Similar in composition to their Fr. 314 counterparts, the Fr. 313 also features the signatures of Rosecrans and Hyatt, but for one key difference easy to overlook upon a cursory glance. The presence of a large peach-red spiked Treasury Seal to the left of Manning's portrait, indicates that this comes from the initial printing of this type. Track & Price records a total of 17 notes, of which 3 are impounded in institutional collections likely forever away from the hands of appreciative collectors. As a result, this particular Friedberg marks the rarest individual variety of this popular type and denomination.
