Description

1874-S Trade Dollar. MS-63 (PCGS).

A brilliant and highly lustrous coin from the early trade dollar series. The San Francisco Mint struck 2,549,000 trade dollars in 1874, most of which were used in the China trade. Even so, this issue numbers among the more available in Mint State for its type, although the 1874-S is scarcer in an absolute sense than the 1875-S, 1876-S, 1877-S and 1878-S. Above the basal MS-64 level, the 1874-S is a formidable condition rarity and, indeed, this is one of the nicest examples that we have offered in recent sales. Sure to spirited bidding among astute collectors.

PCGS# 7036. NGC ID: 2533.

Estimate: $1800
