Hessler-946. The Hessler Plate Note. India paper only. Another well pedigreed back proof of this highly rare three year design. Large outlined 50 counter at center with encompassing UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. Vertical PAY TO THE BEARER in field at left and INTEREST ON THIS NOTE, ONE CENT PER DAY vertically at right. Hessler lists just three known for this back proof with this piece showing just four punch cancels and the other pair both exhibiting six at the lower border. PCGS Currency mentions "Small Edge Splits and Tears; Hinge on Back," in the comments section of the holder. This note, save for these, is close to Uncirculated. Bright and beautiful.
