Pair of unpublished 100 pesos trial pieces printed by the United States Banknote Company in an attempt to win the contract to create the 1966 series but lost out to Thomas de la Rue who printed various denominations of the new series for the Banco Central del Uruguay who ended up using this design. The name of the bank had likely not been decided yet since other trial pieces of this design were made for the Banco Central de la Republica Oriental del Uruguay and was considered too similar to the name of a commercial bank that was operating in Uruguay at the time. PMG has misattributed the front printer's design as the back printer's design on the holder.
