CANADA. Banque Nationale. 50 Dollars, 2.10.1871. CH# 510-12-10. PMG Very Fine 30.
The second highest denomination of the 1870-71 series of the Banque Nationale, founded in Quebec City in 1860. Surpassed in the PMG population report by just a single finer example, this a wonderful example of this scarce issue. The 2022 edition of the Canadian Note Registry does not yet list this example, with the current population now standing at just eight known examples. Most, like the note here, have been perforated cancelled which is how most notes of this issuer are generally encountered. Along with the other notes of this issuer offered today a wonderful opportunity to acquire some rare 19th century chartered banknotes. PMG comments "Perforation Cancelled."
