1786 Connecticut Copper. Miller 5.7-H.1, W-2610. Rarity-5-. Mailed Bust Left. EF Details--Environmental Damage (PCGS).
121.2 grains. Deep steel brown with scattered crusty dark deposits on both sides. A few green deposits are also seen on the reverse along with light but extensive old abrasions. Despite the porosity and mild roughness, the surfaces seem pleasantly glossy, and the obverse in particular is not unattractive, offering sharp detail that one would expect from a high level of preservation. Centered a bit high on this side with the uppermost letters of CONNEC against the rim, but without losses. The reverse is centered toward the lower right but is also softly struck in this area so all rightmost features are soft. When this coin was sold in our 2000 Perkins sale, it was noted to have been accompanied by a Henry Chapman lot envelope, marked "1437" with a $20 cost notation. That envelope is now apparently lost.
PCGS# 686357.
