1788 Vermont Copper. RR-17, Bressett 14-S, W-2125. Rarity-4. Bust Right. Fine-15 (PCGS).
127.6 grains. Well struck and nicely centered on a hard, tight planchet that shows no significant flaws, only light pitting at central reverse where the strike has come up a bit short. Border denticulation incomplete, but peripheral legends and date full, effigy bold, seated figure partially outlined with about two-thirds of the shield lines present. The surfaces are smooth in hand with good gloss, a few wispy handling marks in and around the centers requiring persistence and magnification to discern. An even overlay of warm rose-brown patina adds to the appeal of this premium Choice Fine example.
PCGS# 800833. NGC ID: 2B5B.
