Description

GREAT BRITAIN. Royal Mint End of Production Cast Silver Medal, 1975. Elizabeth II. UNCIRCULATED.
Eimer-2132. Weight: 60 gms; diameter: 53mm. By Robert Elderton. Obverse: Classical architectural façade of the main administrative building of the Royal Mint in London, THE ROYAL MINT TOWER HILL 1811-1975 around; Reverse: Spokes of the fly wheel of a Heaton coining press, with elements of the Royal Mint crest, Tower location, and Tudor foundations within the compartments formed by the flywheel's parts. The terms around mark the various components and stages of coin manufacture and issue, text around. Sold in original red presentation box with black baize interior, white silk liner stamped with the arms of the Royal Mint. This medal was produced from a medal casting unit at Tower Hill, and marks the end of production at Tower Hill and the final removal of Royal Mint operations to a new location in Wales.
