Description

1787 Connecticut Copper. Miller 33.23-hh.2, W-3715. Rarity-6. Draped Bust Left, ETLIR. EF-45 (PCGS).
136.2 grains. Glossy olive brown surfaces exhibit a trace of minor granularity, but they are generally hard and offer excellent visual appeal. Minor natural flaws on both sides combine with some natural planchet roughness, and there are a few extremely faint surface abrasions visible under magnification. Reasonably well centered with what would be full legends but for sinking of the reverse die that has resulted in obvious bulging at the left and lower left reverse. A rather choice example of the variety with slightly less detail than Syd's primary coin, but much nicer surfaces than that or any other example in our online archives.
PCGS# 686378.
From the Sydney F. Martin Collection. Earlier from McCawley and Grellman's C4 Sale, November 1998, lot 192; Jim LaSarre, via John Agre and Dave Wnuck (Coin Rarities Online), June 2006.
