CANADA. Bank of Charlottetown. 2 Dollars, 1.5.1852. CH #105-12-04pp. Proprietary Proof. PMG Gem Uncirculated 66 EPQ.
A spurious bank formed by A. Sleigh, who's life according to Charlton "was devoted to fraud and swindling". This proprietary proof was probably printed at a later date but would make for a welcome addition to any advanced Canadian collection. There are just three issued notes of this issuer known (including a single piece of this denomination) but all are in the National Currency Collection. This is also the sole proof of the $2 presently in the PMG population report.
