1829 Capped Bust Half Dime. LM-5, V-6. Rarity-1. MS-63 (PCGS).
A lovely Choice Mint State example from the first year of the Capped Bust half dime type. Though adopted in 1807 for the half dollar, 1809 for the dime, and 1815 for the quarter, no half dimes were struck of this design until 1829. Thoroughly well defined devices and a rich mix of blue, pewter, gold, and amber hues give this piece a wonderful look. The toning obscures the impact of some minor contact, visible with a glass.
