Description

FRANCE. Consulate. Silver Medallic Trial, Year X (1801/2). Paris Mint. PCGS SPECIMEN-61.
Maz-611 var. (bronze). Plain edge. By E. Saulnier. Weight: 24.00 gms. Another EXCEPTIONALLY RARE trial in silver for a method of striking, this issue in the 5 Francs module displays a great deal of exceptionally vibrancy and deep toning across its glistening surfaces. Margolis knew of only one other example of the type in silver, appearing in a 2006 Thierry Parsy auction.
From the Richard Margolis Collection (acquired from Franceschi/Spink on 17 October 1986). Ex: Druso Franceschi/Spink & Son (10/1986) Lot # 894. Purportedly Ex: Marcel Baille Collection (Jules Florange & Cie FPL - 9/1954) Lot # 460.

Estimate: $1500.00- $3000.00
