BURMA. Reserve Bank of India. 100 Rupees, ND (1939). P-6. Jun&Rez 5.6.1. PMG Extremely Fine 40.
A rather challenging type from Burma under British administration. Of similar design to contemporary notes of India but in blue and payable in Burma only. This example with various ink stamps and an annotation that would be interesting to research their exact meaning of. Good paper quality for the grade and vibrant inks are seen. Issue shortly before World War II, Burma at the time was under British colonial rule and was experiencing increasing nationalist sentiment that would continue to increase over the next decade. PMG Comments "Staple Holes at Issue, Ink Stamps, Annotation, Minor Rust."
