Originally founded in Montreal in 1864, the Merchants Bank of Canada was one of the more prolific note-issuers in the Chartered era, although survivors of many types are rare. While this is one of the more available types of this bank demand remains high for this attractive type. This example is one of the nicer examples we have seen in recent memory and is surpassed in the PMG population report by just two finer examples.
