FRANCE. 20 Francs, Year 12 (1803/4)-A. Paris Mint. Napoleon as First Consul. PCGS MS-63.
Fr-487; KM-651; Gad-1020. A visually delightful survivor with vibrant rose-gold coloration surrounding the design elements on both sides. Tied for finest graded at PCGS with just three other examples. This represents only the third time this piece has been offered publicly in the past four decades; the first of which was our December 1986 sale. Dr. Michael Vale later acquired it from our December 1999 sale and has cherished it privately ever since. An old friend of our firm, we are delighted to once again be present this to a new generation of collectors.
From the Dr. Michael Vale Collection. Ex: Stack's (12/1999) Lot # 323. Ex: Stack's (12/1986) Lot # 1153.
