Silversmith hallmark "TR", incuse "G" and raised "4" within rectangular boarder all on a cut 1/3 1803-08-MoTH Mexico Bust 8 Reales of Charles IIII (IV). VERY RARE and popular type of the West Indies series. Countermarks deeply impressed and clear. Light grey tone throughout with attractive slate in the recesses. An example of this type and of similar quality sold in the Dix Noonan Webb Auction 149 September 25 Lot # 5234 "The Lyall Collection" for an impressive £4,400 hammer (approximately $5,792) plus the buyers fee.
