Description

CHINA. Freedom Dollar, ND (1989). Host Coin: EXTREMELY FINE; Countermark: UNCIRCULATED.
Anti-Communist symbol and peripheral Chinese legend countermark on the obverse of a 1902 French Indo-Chinese Piastre de Commerce; Reverse: Same central symbol, peripheral legend in English - "CHINA FREEDOM DOLLAR SUPPORT THE FEDERATION SAVE THE STUDENTS". These pieces were made following the 1989 Tian An Men Square massacre in Beijing by The Berkeley Chinese Students & Scholars Association (B.C.S.S.A.) to help raise funds for Chinese exchange students stranded in the USA. Undertype nicely toned and original. SOLD AS IS/NO RETURNS.
