NORTHERN SONG: Song Yuan, 960-976, iron cash (5.09g), H-16.5, first iron type of the dynasty and seldom encountered, Fine. Casting of iron cash coins started at Baizhangxian, Yazhou, in Sichuan, from 970. Ten furnaces cast 9,000 strings a year.
