UQAYLID: Unknown ruler, 11th century, BI dirham (2.93g), NM, ND, A-, citing the Abbasid caliph al-Qa'im (AH422-467). The name below the reverse is something like Kurbugha b. al-Khâs, with the ruler Mu'ayyid al-Din 'Izz al-Dawla above, and a certain governor on the obverse, possibly read as al-Malik b. al-Mu'izz Muhammad, also unidentified; the style is clearly northern Syria or northern Iraq; apparently unpublished, attractive VF, RRR. Possibly the same Kurbugha known on later 'Uqaylid dinars, with the title Qawwam al-Dawla and citing the caliph al-Mustazhir, so no earlier than AH487. 'Izz al-Dawla is perhaps the 'Uqaylid 'Izz al-Dawla 'Alam al-Din Quraysh, who ruled AH443-453, at Mawsil until 448, unknown location thereafter until 453.
