Description

TENASSERIM-PEGU: Anonymous, 17th/18th century, cast large lead/tin object (132.57g), VC-131, Robinson, 79mm; knotted dragon (naga) left with long protruding pointed tongue // bird left holding long branch in its beak, probably a peacock due to its long neck, unlike the hintha; unusual version, combining two different obverses; issued either as a coin or weight, bold VF, RRR. This piece is much nicer than the only example known to Van den Cruyce, which weighed 130.74g and contained 86.3% lead and 13.5% tin.

Estimate: USD 200 - 300
