According to a Myanmar Government announcement of December 28, 1990, "The Central Bank of Myanmar will issue Gold Proof coins, beginning Jan. 4, 1991, in denominations of 1 tical, 1/2 tical, and 1/4 tical. The coins will be sold at shops of the Myanma Gems Enterprise, Myanma Jewels House, and Myanma Hotel and Tourism Services hotels, for US dollars."
