Description

ROMAN REPUBLIC & IMPERATORIAL. C. Poblicius Malleolus.
Silver Denarius, 96 BC. Rome.
Obv: helmeted head of Mars right; mallet (malleolus) above, star (mark of value) below chin. Rev: warrior standing left before trophy, foot on cuirass, holding spear; C•MAL (partially ligate) and grasshopper above prow behind.

About Extremely Fine; gently iridescent tone, one of the very finest examples of the type.
