Naples. Carlo V -HRE Charles V (1516-1554). Gold Scudo, nd (1542-1556). 3.35g. Crowned shield with manifold Arms over Imperial eagle. Reverse: Greek cross, crowned and flame-tipped, K in one angle (Cagiati D; Fb 836), Pannuti/Riccio--). The assignment of this coin to Naples is not certain. Conversely, it may have been issued for Charles the Fifth’s campaign against Tunis and struck at the mint of Barcelona. Very rare. Extremely Fine.
