LESBOS. Methymna (?). Circa 500/480-460 BC. Obol (Silver, 8 mm, .75 g.). Forepart of a horse to right; to left, bunch of grapes / Facing forepart of a panther within incuse square. The tentative attribution of this issue to Methymna is based on the similarity of the reverse to some of the 5th century silver coinage of this city. Leu Web Auction 15, lot 365 & Naumann Auction 34, Lot 147; both similar, but with the horse reversed and as Diobol weight.
