Civil War Cannon Ball Group Circa 17th century A.D. A group of two iron English Civil War period cannon balls, each spherical in shape and slightly differently sized. Cf. Blackmore, H.L., Armouries of the Tower of London: Ordnance, HMSO, London, 1976, ff.392. Portable Antiquities Scheme report number DENO-066263, for one. 630 grams total, 38-46 mm (1 - 1 3/4 in.). Found near Granby, Nottinghamshire, UK, by Ken Burrell whilst searching with a metal detector on Tuesday 1st November 2016. Accompanied by a copy of the British Museum's Portable Antiquities Scheme report number DENO-066263 for one. H.L.Blackmore (1976) suggests that such cannon balls may have been fired from a 'robinett' cannon. [2, No Reserve]
