Egyptian Carnelian Seated Cat Amulet
Third Intermediate Period, 1069-702 B.C. A carved carnelian amuletic pendant of a cat (the goddess Bastet) sitting on a rectangular base, gussetted loop behind the shoulders. Cf. Andrews, C., Amulets of Ancient Egypt, London, 1994, item 29(c). 1.5 grams, 18 mm (3/4 in.). Acquired in the 1980s. Ex private collection of L. H., Staffordshire, UK. [No Reserve]
