Bronze Age Central European Spiral Brooch
Hallstatt Period, 8th-6th century B.C. A large bronze bow brooch of Ringkopffibel type with shallow segmented bow, double-loop to each end, spring with integral pin at on end and large spiral head with catch at the other. Cf. Beck, H. et al., Fibel und Fibeltracht, Berlin, 2000, fig 69(9), for type. 65 grams, 11.5 cm (4 1/2 in.). Acquired in the late 1990s-2000.Property of an East London gentleman.
