Medieval Gilt Silver Belt Fitting with Lion
16th century A.D. A silver-gilt belt slider with D-shaped recess to the lower edge, obverse with repoussé figure of a lion advancing. 9.86 grams, 37 mm (1 1/2 in.). UK private collection before 2000.UK art market.Property of a London gentleman. The lion emblem is probably used here as the symbol of St. Mark the Evangelist. [No Reserve]
