August II the Strong, Thaler Dresden 1697 - NGC AU55 Occasional issue, minted in memory of the Hercules Schiesen shooting competition.

In the case of royal Poland's coinage, it is one of the few clips issued by the Polish ruler.

First issue with the FAC monogram of Friedrich August Churfürst and coats of arms around the wreath.  The shooting thalers were minted in two types and in three years 1697, 1699 and 1705. On the reverse there is figure of Hercules with club, standing in the clouds, facing the hand emerging from the sky, holding wreath. Attractive coin in about uncirculated condition. Graded AU55 by NGC. Second highest grade in NGC population report.

Obverse: crowned FA monogram, surrounded by twigs, in the corners of Saxon coats of arms, at the top, the date separated by the coat of arms, the inscription 1 THAL below the monogram

Reverse: figure of Hercules holding raised club at the top protruding hand with wreath, on the sides the inscription VIRTUTI PARATA

Okolicznościowa emisja, wybita na pamiątkę zawodów strzeleckich Herkules Schiesen. W przypadku mennictwa Polski królewskiej, jest to jedna z niewielu klip wyemitowanych przez polskiego władcę. Pierwsza emisja z monogramem FAC Friedricha Augusta Churfürsta i herbami dookoła wieńca. Talary strzeleckie bite były w dwóch typach i w trzech rocznikach 1697, 1699 i 1705. Na rewersie znajduje się postać Herkulesa z maczugą, stojąca w obłokach, zwrócona ku ręce wyłaniającej się z nieba, trzymającej wieniec. Druga najwyższa nota w rejestrze NGC, ale naszym zdaniem nadal surowo oceniona. Atrakcyjny i efektowny egzemplarz.
